Panchgani Popular Hill Station | Satara

Panchgani is a popular hill station in Satara district of Maharashtra near Mahabaleshwar. Due to its five hills, its name is Panchagani. There are various sunrise points, sunset points and scenic valleys. Panchagani is situated in the Sahyadri mountain ranges at a height of 1334 feet. The hill station was discovered in the 1860s by British superintendent John Chesson.

Attractions

1. Table Land Point

Table Land is at an altitude of 4550 feet (1387 meters) above sea level and the highest point in the entire Panchagani region. It ranks second on Asia’s largest mountain plateau and extends over 95 acres. From this place get a great view of Krishna valley, Devil’s kitchen, and clear picture of Rajpuri caves.
Here you can enjoy paragliding, horse riding, trekking.
The two most popular attractions here are One Tree Hill Point and Pandav footsteps (footprint).

2. Sydney Point

This place offers you the amazing view of the Krishna valley, Dhom dam, the city of Wai,Kamalgad fort, hill ranges on Pandavgad and Mandhardevi.
The hill was named over Sir Sidney Beckwarath(member of the council)

3. Parsi Point

The name of the Parsi Point comes from its importance to the Parsi community in the past. Visit early in the morning (sunrise/sunset) to see the stunning view and to feel refreshed. Weekends and holidays are very crowded.
This is best place for photography. Some telescope vendor service available for different angled views of the area.

4. Dhom Dam

The dam is built on the Krishna river near Wai in Maharashtra. Built in 1982, this dam serves in industrial (commercial), agricultural activities, and drinking. Wai, Koregaon, Satara, and Javli talukas are the mainlands that use the dam’s water.
The dam generates approximately 4 MG of electricity, and it has a water capacity of 14 TMC. It is the best one-day picnic spot near Pune. Narasimha Temple is the most visited place on the Krishna ghat. A couple of Bollywood movie shootings done here like Swadesh.
Here you can enjoy water activities, horse riding, and camping. You can hire water scooters, speed boats, banana boats and motor boats.

5. Lingmala Waterfall

In the summer there is less water but there is more greenery. A little walk to get to the point.

6. Devil’s Kitchen

According to mythology, we believe it that the Pandavas of the Mahabharata lived here for a short time while in exile. They used this place to cook their food. This place is a beautiful sightseeing place that is very popular with tourists.

7. Sherbaug

This is a theme park and resort made specifically for tourists. here rain dance, water points and nature walk available for tourists. It is the largest manmade(artificial) waterfall in the India.
This place has a rare collection of fossils and cacti.
A horror house available for visitors, where you can walk through a tunnel with horrible sounds.
