Dams in Thane District

The Thane district is situated in the state of Maharashtra. There are 6 dams in Thane. The list of dams in Thane district is as follows

1. Barvi Dam

The Barvi Dam is an earth-fill dam build across the Barvi river near Badlapur. Water supply is the main purpose behind this dam. The height is 48.78 meters, and the length is 746 meters of the dam.

2. Bhatsa Dam

The Bhatsa Dam is an earth-fill and gravity dam build across the Bhatsa river near Shahapur. Irrigation, Water supply and Hydroelectric powerplant are purpose behind this dam. The height is 88.5 meters, and the length is 959 meters of the dam.

3. Dhamni Dam

The Dhamni Dam is an earth-fill dam build across the Surya river near Dhamni. It is also called as Surya Dam. Its official name is Dhamni Dam D02997. Irrigation, and Hydroelectricity are purpose behind this dam. The height is 59 meters, and the length is 1,563 meters of the dam.

4. Middle Vaitarna Dam

The Middle Vaitarna Dam is build across the Vaitarna river near Kochale village. Its official name is Middle Vaitarna D06319.

5. Modak Sagar

The Modak Sagar Dam is build across the Vaitarna river.

6. Tansa Dam

The Dhamapur Dam is an earth-fill and gravity dam build across the Tansa river near mumbai. Its official name is Tansa dam D05126. Water supply, and Drinking are purpose behind this dam. The height is 41 meters, and the length is 2,804 meters of the dam.
